A Celebration of Global Heritage & Contemporary Style
Diaspora in Vogue (DiV) is a Scotland-based creative and cultural platform designed to discover, showcase and empower talent within diaspora communities. Fashion is its flagship language, but its purpose is broader: to create credible spaces where creativity, cultural heritage and craftsmanship can become visibility, connection and opportunity.
DiV responds to a recognisable diaspora experience. Talented people may arrive with skills in fashion, jewellery, hair, food, craft, performance and design, yet the demands of migration, employment, family responsibility and financial stability can leave those gifts with little room to develop. The talent is not lost; the ecosystem around it is often missing.
Project Elevate sets out DiV’s transition from an annual event into an intentional creative ecosystem. Over 2026–2031, DiV will focus on five strategic pillars: Creative Discovery & Showcase; Cultural Storytelling & Belonging; Creative Enterprise & Economic Opportunity; Skills, Confidence & Creative Development; and Community, Collaboration & Creative Ecosystem.
The strategy is deliberately evidence-led. DiV 2025 provides an initial baseline: DiV 2025 welcomed approximately 100 guests based on organiser records and event-day observations, with 25 attendees captured through Eventbrite. Four post-event respondents rated their experience at 4 or 5 out of 5, with the runway repeatedly identified as a standout feature. Feedback also highlighted areas for improvement including publicity, marketplace trading time, event presentation and inclusion. DiV 2026 will therefore strengthen curation, marketing, participant experience, transparency and impact measurement.
By 2031, DiV aims to be recognised as a trusted platform through which diaspora creativity is discovered, professionally presented, developed and connected to wider opportunities. Growth will be measured not only by audience size, but by what becomes possible for creatives because the platform exists.

Our Mission
Diaspora in Vogue exists to discover, showcase and empower creative talent within diaspora communities by creating platforms that transform creativity, cultural heritage and craftsmanship into visibility, connection and opportunity.
Creativity is discovered. We create opportunities for hidden and emerging talent to step forward and be seen.
Culture is expressed. We celebrate heritage while encouraging creatives to reinterpret cultural identities within contemporary and multicultural environments.
Talent is developed. We aim to provide access to mentoring, learning, collaboration and professional development.
Enterprise is encouraged. We support creatives to recognise that a skill, craft or hobby can become a viable side business, career or sustainable enterprise.
Connections are created. We bring together creatives, consumers, businesses, institutions and communities to create relationships that continue beyond event day.
Stories are reclaimed. We use fashion and creative expression to enable diaspora communities to tell their own stories authentically and confidently.
You do not have to abandon one part of yourself to make room for another.
Why Diaspora in Vogue?
Every year, talented creatives from across the world make new homes in Scotland and the wider diaspora. They arrive carrying more than suitcases — they bring skills, traditions, craftsmanship, stories and creative gifts shaped by generations of culture and experience.
Yet for many, the realities of building a new life take priority. Careers are rebuilt. Qualifications are converted. Families are supported. Long shifts, demanding jobs and the pursuit of stability gradually replace the time and space once devoted to creativity. The designer becomes an office worker. The artisan becomes a healthcare professional. The jewellery maker, textile artist, chef, dancer or shoemaker quietly sets aside their craft — not because the passion has disappeared, but because opportunities to develop and showcase it become increasingly limited.
Over time, extraordinary talent can become hidden.
Diaspora in Vogue exists to change that.
We believe that migration should never require people to leave behind the gifts that make them who they are. Creativity travels with us. Heritage travels with us. Our stories travel with us.
Diaspora in Vogue creates a platform where those gifts can be rediscovered, celebrated and transformed into opportunity. Through fashion, craftsmanship, entrepreneurship and cultural storytelling, we create space for creatives to reconnect with their passion, build confidence, grow sustainable enterprises and share their work with new audiences.
Fashion is our language, but our purpose is broader. Every garment, handcrafted accessory, artwork, performance and creative expression can become part of a larger story — one that celebrates identity, belonging and the richness of diaspora communities.
This is not simply a runway. It is a platform where creativity finds its voice again, where culture is celebrated with pride, and where stories of resilience, innovation and heritage are woven into every experience.
Our gifts came with us. Our creativity came with us. Our stories came with us. Now it is time to tell them.
Celebrating Culture. Empowering Creativity. Connecting Communities.

Our Vision
To become the leading platform where diaspora creativity is discovered, celebrated and transformed into opportunity.
We envision a future where creatives across the diaspora no longer feel they must choose between building a successful career and pursuing their creative gifts. Instead, they are empowered to embrace both, using their talents to preserve culture, inspire innovation and build sustainable livelihoods.
Our long-term vision is to establish Diaspora in Vogue as a globally recognised platform that connects creatives, communities, institutions and industries through curated experiences that celebrate identity, unlock opportunity and redefine the narrative of diaspora excellence.
We aspire to build an ecosystem where creativity is nurtured, businesses flourish, collaborations are formed and future generations see their heritage not as something to leave behind, but as a foundation upon which to build.

Our Values
Authenticity — Our Stories, Our Voice
We believe diaspora stories should be told by the people who live them. We prioritise genuine creative expression and encourage our community to tell its stories on its own terms.
Creativity — The Gift Must Be Given Room
Whether professionally trained, self-taught, established or rediscovering a long-forgotten skill, we recognise creative potential wherever it exists.
Belonging — Home Can Hold Every Part of Us
People should not have to choose between where they come from and where they now call home. We celebrate the beauty that emerges when heritage meets a new environment.
Opportunity — Creativity Should Lead Somewhere
Visibility matters, but visibility alone is not enough. We seek opportunities that can lead to customers, collaborations, confidence, skills, relationships and enterprise.
Excellence — Our Creativity Deserves the Best Stage
Community-led and diaspora-focused work should not accept lower standards. We curate carefully, communicate professionally and continuously improve.
The Diaspora in Vogue Manifesto
Our Gifts Came With Us.
We crossed borders. We built new homes. Started new careers. Learned new cultures. Created new lives.
But we did not arrive empty-handed.
We came with gifts — with creativity shaped in kitchens, workshops, bedrooms, classrooms, marketplaces and the hands of those who came before us.
We came with the ability to sew, bead, weave, braid, cook, design, dance, paint, build and create.
Some of those gifts became businesses. Some became hobbies. And some became quiet.
Not because the creativity disappeared, but because life became louder.
Diaspora in Vogue exists to call it forward again.
We believe crossing a border should never mean leaving part of yourself behind. Heritage and progress can coexist. Tradition can meet innovation. A person can build a career and still nurture their creativity.
We are not here simply to preserve the past. We are here to carry it forward — to reinterpret it, remix it and weave what we inherited with what we are becoming.
Because diaspora is not the absence of home. It is the possibility of carrying home with us — and creating belonging wherever we stand.
Our runway is more than a runway. Our fabrics speak. Our craftsmanship remembers. Our silhouettes challenge perceptions. Our art carries identity.
When we gather, we create visibility, connection, opportunity and a stage where hidden gifts can become visible possibilities.
Our gifts came with us. Our creativity came with us. Our stories came with us. And now, we are giving them room to flourish.
Voices Woven. Stories Reclaimed.
